This project involves the expansion of a single story house and a new detached garage. The site in West Seattle enjoys views of the downtown Seattle skyline as well as the Cascade Mountains to the East.

The owners wanted to expand the kitchen and eating areas on the main level and create a master suite with a sweeping deck above. In addition, they are both avid rock climbers, and so wanted a space to practice their skills within the home.

The design extends the house to the rear about 15 feet. New stairs to the upper level wind through the existing bathroom. A curved landing opens to the climbing area which is open to both levels.
